NTPC Ltd has issued a tender to commission a 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at NTPC Mouda Super Thermal Power Station. Bidders are required to submit their bids by October 22, 2026.
The latest tender comes amid NTPC’s termination of its contract with GR Infraprojects Ltd (GRIL) for the Maharashtra BESS project at the thermal power station. The project was terminated due to the contractor’s failure to fulfill the contractual obligations, achieve the required project progress and take immediate corrective action.
Earlier, the project was awarded to GRIL in March 2026 at a cost of ₹413.37 crore and was expected to be completed within 15 months, in line with national energy objectives.
The latest tender forms a part of NTPC’s effort to re-bid the project at the risk and cost of GRIL, targeting to facilitate the early re-award and timely implementation of the project, in accordance with contractual terms.
