L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions bagged a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) for the Main Plant Package of a 2x800 MW Chandrapura Thermal Power Project.
This power plant project involves two highly advanced units each of 800 MW Ultra Super Critical Power Generation Units. L&T will cover Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply, Erection, Testing, Commissioning of Boilers, Steam Turbines, Generators & ESPS. The JV entity responsible for implementation of this project is called DVC CIL Power Private Limited (DVCCIL), which operates jointly under Damodar Valley Corporation and Coal India Limited.
The adoption of ultra-supercritical technology will allow for improved thermal efficiency and reduced specific emissions. This will contribute towards efficient power production. At an installed capacity of 1,600 MW, the Chandrapura Power Project will contribute towards India's ever-expanding power generation infrastructure in response to rising power needs driven by industrial growth and economic development.
The Chandrapura Power Project is also indicative of the continued importance of high-efficiency thermal power generation in India's changing energy landscape. As Indian electricity demand grows, new thermal technologies may prove crucial to providing baseload power efficiently and sustainably.
