In a bid to resume and revamp negotiations for upgrading their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and explore deeper cooperation in industrial sectors, green energy and digital trade, India and South Korea have held discussions, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday.

“Delighted to meet Mr Yeo Han-koo, Trade Minister, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR), Republic of Korea. We discussed ways to resume and revamp the India-Korea CEPA upgrade negotiations and explored opportunities for deeper cooperation in industrial cooperation, green energy and digital trade. We look forward to strengthening our partnership for greater mutual trade and investment,” Goyal posted on X.

Signalling a broader push to deepen economic ties between the two countries, both countries explored avenues to enhance collaboration across key sectors, including industrial cooperation, green energy and digital trade.

Goyal added that the discussions also reflected a shared intent to align with evolving global trade dynamics and sustainability goals.

The bilateral discussion took place as India seeks to attract investments in clean energy manufacturing, such as batteries and green technologies, where the East Asian nation has a strong global presence.
