NTPC Ltd has floated an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender on behalf of NTPC (Mauritius) Energy Limited for setting up a 15 MW floating solar power plant equipped with a 12 MW/60 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The move comes after the recent partnership agreement between NTPC and the Mauritius Government through its Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, CEB, Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency, and the Energy Efficiency Management Office (EEMO).
Bids are due by December 7, 2026. According to the requirements outlined under this RFP, the minimum amount of available capacity for BESS at the PoI must be 12 MW/60 MWh after the commissioning phase of the project. The maximum degradation rate in available capacity will be 2%.
In addition, NTPC signed an agreement for consulting services related to the setting up of a 2 MWp floating solar power plant at Tamarind Falls Reservoir for CEB, Mauritius.
For another consulting service, NTPC developed the Pre-feasibility study report and Conceptual design report for a 30 MW Floating Solar Power Plant Project with BESS at Tamarind Falls Reservoir.
