Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), has energised 10,466 rooftop solar installations as of April 2026, the company said, adding it has increased its cumulative rooftop solar capacity to 160.3 MWp under Project 'Suryansh' in Delhi.

Tata Power-DDL under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), has energised 4,375 installations to date, and through the Generation-Based Incentive (GBI) mechanism, 8,451 residential installations have been developed of the 10,466 total connections.

The company’s rooftop solar programme has witnessed a massive growth, with 1,803 installations and 35 MWp installed capacity in FY 2021-22 to 10,466 installations and 160.3 MWp installed capacity as of April 2026. With 5,378 new installations adding 55.75 MWp to the distributed grid in FY 2025-26, it marks the highest annual capacity addition in Delhi's history. Besides, installations under (PMSGMBY) also witnessed strong growth, which rose to 3,100 in FY 2025-26.

This development signals emergence of distributed generation as a key driver of the country’s energy transition, as it supports utility-scale renewable energy and reduces pressure on urban distribution networks. India aims to install rooftop solar systems in 1 crore households under PMSGMBY, with 45 lakh households already adopting solar power in the country
