Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed fuel availability and energy supply chains at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) amid disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

The government assessed the availability of petroleum products, LPG and other fuels, and discussed measures to ensure continuity of supply across the short, medium and long term.

Officials said plans to diversify sources of imports for petrochemicals and other energy-linked sectors were also reviewed to mitigate supply risks.

In the power sector, the government said adequate coal stocks are available at thermal plants, indicating no immediate risk to electricity supply.

The meeting also reviewed fertiliser availability, with discussions on alternative sourcing, given its linkage to energy inputs.

The Prime Minister directed ministries to ensure coordination with states to prevent hoarding and maintain smooth availability of fuels and related commodities.

He also called for a coordinated response mechanism, with sectoral groups to monitor developments and implement measures related to energy supply.
