The government on Thursday said there is no shortage of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country, with domestic supplies and cylinder deliveries continuing as scheduled.
At an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said no LPG distributor is currently facing a dry-out situation and supply to domestic consumers remains uninterrupted.
She said the situation continues to be monitored, while supply chains within the country remain stable.
The ministry said digital adoption in LPG services has increased, with around 94 percent of bookings now being made online, while the delivery authentication code (DAC) system has expanded to about 76 percent coverage.
Commercial LPG supplies, which saw initial disruptions, have been partially restored, with allocation orders issued by several state governments and supplies now reaching all states and Union Territories.
The Centre has also proposed increasing commercial LPG availability by 10 percent and has asked states to support the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) networks.
Officials said these measures have led to the addition of around 1.25 lakh new domestic, commercial and industrial connections over the past two weeks. Over 5,600 domestic consumers have shifted to PNG in recent days.
The ministry said enforcement action against hoarding and black marketing has been intensified, with control rooms set up across states and union territories and district-level monitoring mechanisms activated.
Consumers have been advised to avoid panic bookings and use digital platforms for refills.
