The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting chaired by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday, PTI reported. The discussions will revolve around reducing the strain on energy chains as well as enhancing coordination regarding common economic and security concerns.

Minister Jaishankar landed in Atlanta late Thursday night. He will be participating in the two-day deliberations. The talks will commence with the keynote address by Rubio on geopolitics and will then move towards energy and economic development.

“Under President Trump's leadership, the United States is returning the G20 to its core economic mission of driving growth, strengthening economic security, and delivering results for the American people,” the US Department of State said in a statement on Tuesday.

The department explained that international security and prosperity go hand-in-hand, and that the discussion would serve as the foundation for President Donald Trump’s forthcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit, as well as for the broader economic program to be addressed at the summit. According to the department, Atlanta, one of the world’s leading centers of diplomacy, connectivity, and commerce, offered the setting for the discussion.

Donald Trump will convene the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Miami on December 14 and 15.
