Shripad Naik, the Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, has held a bilateral meeting with the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Industry in New Delhi.
Energy security, power sector reform, low-carbon development, nuclear energy, carbon market and new technologies were among the various subjects deliberated upon in the discussion.
In particular, Naik emphasized India’s progress on non-fossil fuel energy generation, grid and transmission capacity, energy storage, and smart grid technologies, as well as advancements in nuclear energy, energy efficiency, and green hydrogen.
The parties examined areas of collaboration in energy storage for long durations, digital power system solutions, green hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage, and nuclear technologies like Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
They shared their thoughts about carbon pricing and trading, particularly EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Both the parties agreed to pursue further engagements and collaboration on secure and sustainable energy systems.
