Hours after US President Donald Trump’s indefinite ceasefire announcement, a Mundra-bound ship came under attack by Iran on Wednesday.

As per Iranian state run PressTV, the ship was one of the two that were attacked and taken over by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC-N). The names of these two ships are MSC-Francesca and the Epaminodas, the media outlet also informed.

Liberian-flagged Epaminodas, according to two shipping monitoring sites, was on its way to Mundra in Gujarat from the Jebel Ali port in Dubai. Two shipping monitoring sites said that Liberian-flagged Epaminodas was on its way to Mundra in Gujarat from the Jebel Ali port in Dubai. The container ship was to reach Mundra on Thursday, April 23, as per Marinetraffic.com and vesselfinder.com. The ship is owned by a Greek Kalmar Maritime LLC, as per steamshipmutual.com.

This incident follows after two Indian ships that were attacked by Iran on April 18 soon after the Islamic Republic’s de-facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz. India, in response, summoned Iran’s Ambassador to India and conveyed “Deep concern” on the incident.

The latest incident raises uncertainty over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway that conducts 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas shipping. Besides countries such as India whose up to 50 percent of its oil and gas imports passing through the chokepoint become stressed for ensuring energy security for growing its economy.
