Grasim Industries Ltd’s Advanced Materials Division and its renewable arm Aditya Birla Renewables Ltd (ABRen) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Suzlon Energy Ltd, to collaborate on a pilot basis for the development, commercialisation, and scaling of wind turbines equipped with recyclable blade technology. Signed at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026, the partnership is founded on a shared commitment to advancing circularity in the wind energy sector and accelerating the adoption of sustainable end-of-life solutions for wind turbine blades.

“Today, conventional wind turbine blades are predominantly manufactured using thermoset composite materials that are difficult to recycle at the end of their service life, often resulting in landfill disposal or incineration. Blades manufactured using Recyclamine® epoxy technology, supplied by Grasim, can be chemically recycled at end-of-life, enabling the recovery of valuable composite constituents for reuse in new applications.

This breakthrough technology supports circular economy principles, minimises waste, reduces environmental impact, and enhances the overall sustainability of wind energy projects,” Grasim’s press release reads

Under this collaboration, Suzlon, as the wind turbine OEM, will integrate Recyclamine® technology into the manufacturing of recyclable wind turbine blades. Aditya Birla Renewables will deploy a wind turbine equipped with recyclable blades at one of its selected project sites, demonstrating the commercial viability of circular blade technology under real-world operating conditions. The parties will also jointly explore opportunities to drive broader commercialisation and market adoption of recyclable blade-enabled wind turbines powered by Recyclamine® technology across India and other mutually agreed markets.

“This collaboration marks an important step toward building a truly circular wind energy ecosystem. By combining the Recyclamine® technology with Suzlon’s manufacturing expertise and ABRen’s renewable energy ambitions, we are demonstrating that sustainability and innovation can go hand in hand. Together, we aim to accelerate the adoption of recyclable wind turbine blades and set new benchmarks for resource efficiency in the wind industry", said Rajesh Balakrishnan, CEO, Advanced Materials, Grasim Industries Ltd.

Girish Tanti, Co-founder, Suzlon Group said, “The future of renewable energy lies not just in generating clean power, but in building truly circular solutions. At Suzlon, we are advancing this vision through our flagship S144 platform, which has one of the world's lowest carbon footprints among wind turbines, and by working towards making all future turbines recyclable within the next three to four years. This partnership brings together innovation and scale to accelerate material circularity, with the potential to enable significant CO₂ savings. It is another step towards ensuring that every turbine we build delivers lasting value for both the planet and future generations."

“At ABRen, we believe the energy transition must be accompanied by innovation that enhances environmental sustainability. This partnership is an important step toward addressing the end-of-life challenges associated with wind turbine blades and advancing circularity within the renewable energy sector,” said Amit Jain, CEO, Aditya Birla Renewables Ltd.
