Strengthening the bilateral relationship, Andhra Pradesh and Australia have signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) marking a major step across clean energy, advanced manufacturing, inclusive education, student mental health and skill development.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the signing took place in the presence of AP Minister for HRD Nara Lokesh and Australia's Assistant Minister for International Education and Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs Julian Hill.
Out of the four memoranda, the first memorandum was signed for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Solar Manufacturing at IIT-Tirupati. It was signed by the State government's Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET), the Indian Institute of Technology-Tirupati and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney.
As per the agreement, the CoE will hold responsibility across cutting-edge research, innovation, technology development and workforce development, creating a globally competitive talent pipeline to boost Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy ambitions.
This development supports the state's goal of building renewable energy capacity and creating an ecosystem of world-class research, advanced manufacturing and skilled professionals to strengthen India’s clean energy transition.
Discussions initiated by Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh during his visit to Australia in October 2025 played a vital role in the partnership.
