The Adani Group and Kachchh University inaugurated a Green Energy Centre of Excellence to train more than 10,000 students annually for jobs in the global renewable sector.

Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, officiated at the inauguration ceremony of this centre which aims to educate 10,000 students per year under specific programmes related to renewable energy and industrial automation.

Karan Adani, director of Adani Group, pointed out that renewable energy technology would be important for India's progress and this centre would equip students for job opportunities inside and outside the country.

"This global Centre of Excellence will ensure that students are equipped not only for today's jobs, but also for the emerging new opportunities across India and the world," Karan Adani mentioned.

According to Robin Bhowmik, CEO of Adani Skills & Education, there was an unexpected boom in the field of renewable energy, however, the supply of skilled labour had not kept up with demand.

"By working with Kachchh University, we can bring industry requirements into the classroom, give students practical exposure to the technologies they will work with and help them move from education to employment," he added.

As per India's national target, the non-fossil fuel energy generation capacity should reach 500 GW by 2030.
