Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal invited Canadian investors to partner in India’s growth story across strategic sectors such as clean energy, technology, digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, and supply chain diversification, while also exploring avenues to deepen cooperation in financial markets to support sustainable growth and shared prosperity for both countries.
Goyal is on a three-day visit to Canada, where he is meeting Canada’s ministers, senior government representatives, business leaders, and institutional investors, among other stakeholders to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote investments and technology partnerships across strategic sectors.
The union minister’s ongoing visit also garnered Canada’s Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu’s commitment to building closer bilateral ties and announcement of a Team Canada Trade Mission to India in November this year.
The proposed mission aims to bring Canadian companies to India to explore opportunities for collaboration across sectors such as renewable energy, clean technology, nuclear energy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), critical minerals, semiconductors, digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
Goyal’s Canada visit has come at a time when India’s economic diplomacy strategy is being cantered on clean technology, nuclear energy, AI, critical minerals, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing. These moves are seen to be crucial towards India’s ambition to achieve Net Zero goal by 2070.
