Commercial vehicles giant Tata Motors Ltd has partnered with Welspun Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd for 86 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project for supplying power to its four manufacturing plants, reports PTI on Friday.

The two companies have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to co-create an 86 MW wind-solar hybrid project and will be supplied to Tata Motors’ manufacturing plants in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Karnataka, Tata Motors stated.

This project will potentially produce 200 million units of clean electricity annually. Moreover, it is expected to counterbalance over 1.4 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Supported by shared funding and a long-term PPA contract, the project will supply exclusive green electricity to Tata Motors' four factories, powering its commercial vehicle production.
