The Odisha government has extended its Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021 till December 31, 2026 promoting green mobility and accelerating the transition towards sustainable transportation, an official notification stated.
A notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department on Saturday stated, “In exercise of powers conferred under the provisions of para 11.5 of the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, the government has been pleased to extend the validity period of the policy till December 31, 2026."
The extension was made noting the state government's commitment to reduce carbon emissions. Under the policy, electric vehicle buyers in Odisha receive full road tax and registration fee exemption alongside EV Purchase subsidies.
As per the policy, on purchase of a two-wheeler, a customer gets a subsidy of 15 per cent of the vehicle cost, capped at ₹5,000, or ₹5,000 per kWh, subject to a maximum subsidy of ₹20,000. For three-wheelers, the subsidy is set at 15 percent of the vehicle cost (up to ₹10,000) or a flat ₹30,000.
Whereas, for four-wheelers, the subsidy amount is 15 percent of the vehicle cost, capped at ₹50,000, or ₹10,000 per kWh, subject to a maximum subsidy of ₹1.5 lakh. Passenger buses are eligible for a subsidy of 10 percent of the vehicle cost, ranging from ₹4 lakh to ₹20 lakh based on specifications while goods carriers receive a ₹30,000 subsidy for initial units.
