NTPC Ltd has invited developers for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) on the behalf of NTPC (Mauritius) Energy Ltd to develop a 15 MW floating solar project with a 12 MW/60 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Under this tender, NTPC aims to construct the project at Tamarind Falls Reservoir in Mauritius. The bid submissions will be open until December 7, 2026. This initiative advances the ongoing partnership between NTPC and the Mauritian government, including key entities such as the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, the Central Electricity Board (CEB), the Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency, and the Energy Efficiency Management Office (EEMO).

According to the issued tender, upon commissioning, the BESS capacity must be 12 MW/60 MWh at the Point of Injection (PoI) with annual degradation of maximum 2 percent of its initial rated capacity.

The scope of work includes development of the floating solar PV plant and the BESS project, including the supply and installation of solar modules in the reservoir area. The developers will hold responsibility for design, engineering, procurement, logistics, installation, and commissioning of a grid-connected 15 MWac floating solar project at Mauritius's Tamarind Falls Reservoir.

Moreover, bidders are required to have experience in developing solar projects with a capacity of at least 10 MWp, including at least one plant with a capacity of 4 MWp or higher. The reference plant of at least 4 MWp must have operated successfully for a minimum of six months prior to the submission date for techno-commercial bids.
