NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL) has secured SJVN’s 265 MW/530 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Haryana at a tariff of ₹2.35 lakh/MW/month.
The tender also witnessed participation from BESS developers such as Pace Digitek Ltd, Sun Drop Energia Ltd, Rama Reflection India, SolarWorld Energy and Oriana Power Ltd.
SJVN, acting as the Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA) for Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (UHBVNL), managed the implementation of a two-hour BESS project split into Project-1 (250 MW/500 MWh) and Project-2 (15 MW/30 MWh). Tendered in July, the contract was finalised and awarded the following month.
The latest tariff reflects a rise compared to ₹1.97 lakh/MW/month tariff at which SJVN had awarded a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS project in Panipat, Haryana, a few months ago.
Under the awarded tender, NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL) will procure and use the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on an “on-demand” basis to meet its peak and off-peak power requirements.
The project is supported by Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of up to ₹18 lakh/MWh as a one-time, non-recurring grant fully financed by the Power System Development Fund (PSDF). Within this framework, Project-2—a 15 MW/30 MWh BESS facility—will be supported under the VGF Scheme's State Component.
