To support residents install rooftop solar systems, Chief minister Rekha Gupta launched the ‘Delhi PM Surya Ghar’ portal on Monday. Also, the government will grant a combined centre and Delhi subsidy of up to ₹1.56 lakh for systems up to 3 kW, Hindustan Times quoted officials as saying.
The portal was launched under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and will enable residents to register for rooftop solar installations and get information regarding authorised vendors, subsidies and related services. Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The portal also allows residents to apply under the PM Surya Ghar scheme and get information about options available under Delhi’s solar policy. The registration is a simple process, consumers just need to enter thier CA number, provide the required information and give consent to proceed.

According to Gupta’s statement domestic consumers using up to 400 units of electricity a month will be eligible for rooftop solar systems up to 3 kW with no upfront payment. The cost will be supported by subsidy provided by the centre of up to ₹78,000 and the Delhi government with an equal amount.
Gupta added that consumers using up to 200 units a month will also be eligible for an additional incentive and if their electricity usage declines amid the installation of solar panels, the government will grant an incentive equivalent to 75 units for the electricity saved.
Additionally, the subsidy for rooftop installation in cover common areas and open spaces in group housing societies has been increased to ₹11,000 per kW from ₹2,000 per kW.
