New Delhi is preparing to welcome the global power and utility community for three days of dialogue, deal-making, and demonstrations, as three established energy events converge into a unified platform under ‘Shaping Energy Sovereignty, Building Climate Resilience, Powering Viksit Bharat’.

Supported by the Government of India, organised by The Energy & Climate Initiatives Society (ENCIS) and ITEN Media with Clarion Energy as international partner, over 15,000 industry professionals, more than 250 domestic and international exhibitors and more than 150 thought leaders are expected to be in attendance at what has been positioned as India's flagship business platform for the energy sector.

A Single Stage for the Entire Value Chain

Rather than three separate events competing for the same audience, organisers have brought Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India and Indian Utility Week together as one integrated experience spanning a high-level strategic summit, a full-scale exhibition and an awards programme.

The combined platform is designed to give visitors an end-to-end view of the sector, from conventional and renewable generation through to transmission, distribution and the digital infrastructure underpinning India's smart grid ambitions. Organisers note that the event also offers a route to qualified buyers from the ASEAN region, broadening its relevance beyond the domestic market.

POWERGEN India: 18 Years of Industry Leadership

POWERGEN India brings the longest track record to the table, having served as India's premier forum for the power generation industry for more than 18 years. The event has built its reputation as a meeting ground for solution providers across all forms of power generation, conventional and renewable alike, along with the energy storage technologies that increasingly accompany them, giving the wider sector a long-standing forum in which to debate India's energy future.

Indian Utility Week: Smart Energy for a Low-Carbon Future

Indian Utility Week spotlights the smart energy ecosystem, bringing together utilities, network operators, vendors, consultants, start-ups and system integrators from across the value chain. Its remit is squarely on strategy: how India manages a smooth transition towards a low-carbon energy supply, an agenda that runs through sessions on smart metering, grid modernisation and digital transformation.

Bharat Electricity: Showcasing Power Sector’s Transformation

Bharat Electricity showcases the transformation of India's power sector over the past decade. It is intended to give global stakeholders a route into the opportunities created by that progress, with a global energy forum bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and experts to discuss the challenges ahead for India and the wider world.

The Climate Commitments Framing the Conversation

Much of the summit's agenda is set against the backdrop of India's climate pledges. At COP26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a target of carbon neutrality by 2070, part of a five-point plan that also includes installing 500 GW of renewable energy capacity to meet 50 percent of India's energy requirements by 2030, cutting the emissions intensity of the economy by 45 percent, and reducing carbon emissions by one billion tonnes. With energy demand set to grow substantially in the coming decades, organisers frame this as both a transformation challenge and an economic opportunity, one requiring sustained investment, innovation and collaboration across the power sector.

Three Days of Dialogue

The agenda runs across three days, opening with plenary sessions on energy sovereignty, international perspectives and electricity markets. Day two turns to themes including hydrogen's path from policy to commercially viable projects, transmission and DISCOM reform, renewable integration, and the Bharat Electricity Awards, alongside dedicated sessions on Gujarat and Kerala. Day three brings CEO and CXO forums for both the energy and utility sectors, sessions on digital transformation, workforce skilling, start-ups and innovation, smart metering, and further state-focused discussions on Karnataka and Maharashtra.

By combining POWERGEN India's established industry network, Indian Utility Week's smart-grid focus and Bharat Electricity's new showcase of India's energy transformation, the organisers have set out to create a single, comprehensive platform for the sector. As India works towards its 2030 renewable energy targets and its longer-term goal of carbon neutrality by 2070, the three-day gathering in New Delhi offers the power and utility industry a concentrated window onto the policy, technology and investment conversations shaping that journey.
