West Bengal BJP president, Samik Bhattacharya stated that the beginning of oil extraction in ONGC's Ashoknagar area of North 24 Parganas district was indeed a significant day for West Bengal.
The Rajya Sabha MP revealed that he had taken efforts to bring about this development in the past four years by bringing up the matter in Parliament and following it up with the Petroleum Ministry and ONGC.
He had also visited the ONGC's oilfield in Baigachhi in Ashoknagar, located around 48 km from Kolkata and witnessed oil being extracted from the ground.
"Today is a day I will remember for a long time" he stated in a social media post saying that this was not only about the extraction of oil but also about investments and creating job opportunities.
