Tata Power announced on Wednesday that the company had entered into an agreement with Norway-based renewable energy technology firm Ocean Sun to deploy Ocean Sun's membrane-based floating solar technology solution in India, reported Trading View Bureau.

The pact was signed on the sidelines of the second India-EFTA Prosperity Summit, which further strengthens the emerging relationship between India and Norway and India-EFTA partnership in areas of technological innovation and clean energy solutions, as per the press release by Tata Power.

Both companies will collaborate to install a 300 kWp floating solar power project pilot at Tata Power's Mulshi reservoir in Maharashtra. The collaboration aims for suitability of Ocean Sun's proprietary membrane-based floating solar technology solution for performance, reliability, cost effectiveness and scalability within Indian conditions. Moreover, the pilot project will provide valuable operational learnings in terms of deploying the technology at scale, if found suitable.

Tata Power would be able to assess Ocean Sun's technology in power production, capacity utilization factor, installation process, reliability, O&M, cost, and other commercial considerations, with the installation of the 300 kWp pilot.
