Chhattisgarh Cabinet has given a nod to ‘Chhattisgarh Urban Gas Distribution Policy, 2026.’ to ensure the availability of clean and affordable Piped Natural Gas (PNG) across the state. This is expected to prove to be a cost-effective alternative to Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) for the general public.

The policy establishes a comprehensive framework for the phased expansion of City Gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure. Its primary focus is on securing last-mile connectivity and delivering reliable, affordable and environment-friendly fuel to residential households, commercial establishments and industries.

The pipeline expansion infrastructure is expected to pour in investment in pipeline construction, pressure stations, metering systems and operations management, besides, generating employment across construction and engineering sectors.

The state government’s initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote cleaner urban energy systems and increase the share of natural gas in India’s energy mix.
